Virgin Voyages Price Drop After Booking: Can You Reprice Your Cruise?

Updated: Mar 10

(What You Can — and Can’t — Change)

Virgin Voyages pricing moves… a lot.

Fares drop, promotions rotate, and new offers can appear with little warning. If you notice a lower price after you’ve already booked, you may have options — but which option works depends on your timing, fare type, and strategy.

As a Top 100 Virgin Voyages Travel Advisor, I help clients navigate this every day. In this guide, I’ll break down the three ways you may be able to reprice your Virgin Voyages cruise — and the common mistakes that can cost you money.

Quick Answer: Can You Reprice a Virgin Voyages Cruise?

Sometimes — but not always. Here are your three potential paths:

Best Price Guarantee (BPG) Virgin Voyages will price match a lower fare if you submit proof within 48 hours of booking.

Reshop (advisor-assisted) Your First Mate or Sailor Services may request a fare adjustment up to 46 days before sailing on eligible fares.

Cancel and Rebook A strategic workaround that only works if your fare class and cancellation timeline allow it.

Important: Lock It In and Base fares are generally non-refundable and have very limited flexibility after the first 48 hours.

The Three Ways to Reprice a Virgin Voyages Cruise

There isn’t just one repricing method — and understanding the difference is critical.

1️⃣ Best Price Guarantee (Official Method)

This is Virgin Voyages’ published price protection program.

  • Available within 48 hours of booking confirmation

  • Must match the exact voyage details

  • Self-submitted via Virgin’s official form

We’ll break this down further in a separate blog post.

2️⃣ Reshop (Advisor Strategy)

A reshop is a fare review requested through your First Mate or Sailor Services after the 48-hour window closes. This is something we do for all our clients. By monitoring cruise pricing, we will let you know if pricing has changed.

Key points:

  • Not formally published on the website

  • May be available up to 46 days before sailing

  • Typically applies to Essential, Premium, and RockStar fares

  • Not available on Lock It In or Base fares

This is one of the biggest advantages of booking through an experienced advisor — most sailors don’t even know this option exists. This is where working with Travel Adventures with Tracy™  really helps. I routinely monitor client bookings and request reshops when the math makes sense.

Pro Tip: Don’t request a reshop every time you see a small price dip. The real value often comes when a new promotion launches with stronger perks (like added Bar Tab or Sailor Loot). I always look at the total value of the offer, not just the fare, before advising clients to reshop.

3️⃣ Cancel and Rebook (Strategic Workaround)

This is exactly what it sounds like: You cancel your current booking and immediately rebook at the lower price. But — and this is critical — it only works when your fare rules allow it. Cancel and rebook is a strategy, not an official program.

It may work if:

  • Your fare allows cancellation

  • You’re outside penalty windows

  • The savings outweigh lost perks

WARNING: This is where many sailors make expensive mistakes.

Pro Tip: Before canceling, always compare: Lost Bar Tab, Lost Sailor Loot, MNVV value, and current promotion value. A $200 fare drop can easily cost more in lost perks.

Fare Class Matters (A Lot)

Your flexibility depends heavily on what you booked.

Most flexible - Essential, Premium, RockStar, MegaRockstar

Most restrictive - Lock It In and Base

Pro Tip: If flexibility matters to you, this decision starts before you ever book.

Legacy Booking Warning (Very Important)

If you booked before October 7, 2025 and manually change your cabin now, your reservation may be pulled into the newer VoyageFair pricing structure. That can increase your fare — even on a downgrade. You can lose perks like Priority Boarding that were part of a travel agent perk (no longer available through any agents in 2026) The one exception: Level Upgrade bids usually preserve legacy perks.

My Smart Repricing Playbook

Here’s the strategy I use with my clients at Travel Adventures with Tracy™:

✅ Book early with flexible fare classes

✅ Check prices immediately within the first 48 hours

✅ Screenshot everything

✅ Monitor promotions over time

✅ Avoid manual cabin changes on legacy bookings

✅ Run full math before cancel-and-rebook decisions

✅ Let your First Mate handle reshops!

And if this seems like a lot of work, it is! This is why it pays to book with a top travel agent!

My Expert Take

Yes — you may be able to reprice a Virgin Voyages cruise. But success depends on:

  • Your timing

  • Your fare class

  • Your promotional structure

  • And your strategy

Virgin Voyages’ Best Price Guarantee is a real safety net — but only if you understand the rules before you need it.

If you’re booking through me, I monitor fares, evaluate promo trade-offs, and help you decide the smartest move for your specific sailing. That’s all part of booking made easy with Travel Adventures with Tracy.
